Court sports are extremely popular, commonly played and highly watched sports. Basketball, tennis, volleyball, and racquetball, are just a few of the many sports people everywhere play professionally or simply because they enjoy the game. Rather than playing the sports other people get entertained simply by watching professional game matches, either in-person or on television. There are professional basketball leagues, such as the NBA or National Basketball Association or the WNBA or Women’s National Basketball Association of the United States, which are highly watched. Other court sports, like tennis and volleyball tournaments are also watched by millions of fans nationally and worldwide, every season.
During this year’s summer Olympics, held in Beijing, millions of spectators around the world watched as the most experienced players from each national team of basketball, volleyball, and tennis played against each other, giving their best to win a gold, silver or bronze medal for their country. In basketball, both the men’s and women’s teams won the gold medals for the United States. And, the American men also won gold in volleyball, with the women winning silver. In tennis, the men won the bronze medal, with the women winning gold! All the excitement of watching their favorite teams and players play court sports, and seeing them win is what many people look forward to every year, or every season. Fans can provide the inspiration and motivation players need to help them do their best to win the game. In return, fans are given a good form of entertainment. |
