ATV’s (also known as quads) are extremely fun! If you have never driven an ATV (short for All-Terrain Vehicle) or at least been on one, you definitely have to try it, at least once. After your first ride, you will want to keep on riding them again and again. The automatic ones are easy to drive. There are also standard ones (also known as stick-shift), which are a little more complicated to drive, but still fairly easy once you have done it a few times. ATV’s are great for all types of roads-asphalt, dirt, rocky, etc. They can travel at high speeds, and almost in all types of weather.
A great place to ride an ATV, is in Rocky Point (Puerto Peñasco), Sonora, Mexico. Rocky Point is located in the Sonoran Desert, which means there is a lot of sand making it perfect for riding quads. The rules there aren’t very strict, so you have the freedom to ride them almost wherever and whenever you want. One strict rule though that the authorities really enforce is that you do not drive on the beach, but other than that you can pretty much go anywhere else. They even have special sand areas, where you can go up and down sand hills, and try some tricks. You can take your own quad or rent one there for a small fee, usually in the $15-40 price range, for an hour. Be aware that if you decide to rent one, you will be asked for some form of identification, so be prepared and you will have a great time riding an ATV! |
