Each year the main goal for every individual or team, in every sport is to make it to the championships with the hopes of winning. Every sport has its pinnacle trophy, but none is most desired as the one in the Baseball World Series; a best of seven contests that celebrates our national pastime. It is as traditional as the holiday of Thanksgiving, as patriotic as the fourth of July, and as anticipated as Christmas morning or the New Year.

Modern baseball is believed to have developed in North America, but its roots date back to the early years when Europeans brought stick-and-ball games to the American colonies as early as the 1600s. At that time, those types of games were considered simply children’s games and no one imagined that widely recognized sports would develop from them. Later, in the 1800s many other stick-and-ball games were played that originated in England. Some northeastern cities in the United States, like New York, Boston, and Philadelphia played cricket, a traditional game of English aristocrats. An English game called rounders was eventually played in rural and urban communities, which more closely resembled modern baseball. Then, baseball popularity began to increase rapidly when it became well-known in New York, and later was spread world wide during the Civil War when soldiers introduced it to other countries. Currently, baseball continues to attract many fans and great players who aspire to becoming one of the greatest baseball legends of all time, like one we all know-Babe Ruth!
